#WomensHistoryMonth. My 3rd woman to remember.Geneviève Prémoy, alias Chevalier Balthazard 1660–1704, enlisted as a French officer for 15 years.Her 1st love was fighting,but got entangled with many women while in disguise.Louis XIV made her a Knight or Chevalier for her bravery in battle.
Told to wear women’s clothes while at court, she had a scarlet skirt with gold trimmings, but an officer’s scarlet jacket magnificently trimmed in gold. Also a spanish-style wig of brownish-blond hair and crowned by a hat with a white feather. Her order of St Louis was worn on a red ribbon and her sword never left her side.
